Conquer the entire town in this interesting board game based on the prohibition mafia from the 1920s

History is full of interesting periods that do not seem to make any sense when you analyze them now, but they certainly had an impact on the people living through them. Prohibition is a great example of this, because it sounds ludicrous that the US government would ban alcohol. Hence, instead of solving a problem, they managed to create an even bigger one: the bootleg mafia.

Files for Mac can be run on all versions of OS X. You need to uncompress the 7z archive using the proper software (please use Keka to avoid problems). If the archive contains a DMG, double click it to mount the disk. Bootleg (bo͞ot′lĕg′) v. Bootlegged, bootlegging, bootlegs v.tr. To make, sell, or transport (alcoholic liquor) for sale illegally. To produce, distribute, or sell without permission or illegally: a clandestine outfit that bootlegs compact discs and tapes. To engage in the bootlegging. King

Conquer area after area to expand your territory

The King Of Bootlegging is an interesting combination of board game mechanics and CCG concepts that revolve around the 1920s mafia and the way people used alcohol to make money. In essence, your goal is to create a crew of gangsters and distribute illegal alcohol throughout the city, while also fighting against rival crews and winning territory by paying with blood.

You start by choosing a bonus to help you along, and each bonus provides you with a certain advantage at certain points throughout the game. Whether you start with more production facilities or you are able to draw more than one card every round, it’s important that you keep the starting bonus in mind when you decide on a strategy later on.

Simple graphics and 3D map

The other half of the game is all about positioning your gangsters on the map and making sure that you occupy new territory on a regular basis. It’s also important to fight the rival gangs and kick them out whenever they expand on your turf, because you are unable to reach the desired market if you do not have enough territory. Naturally, it’s all about money in the end.

As for the graphics, the top-down perspective makes it feel like a classic RTS, but the mechanics are obviously much simpler and to the point. You can only select your units and move them around, but at least you have the possibility to zoom in and get a better look at what’s going on. The music is decent as well, but don’t expect too much variety either, which means that it might get repetitive in a rush.

A nice idea that needs more time in the shop

All things considered, The King Of Bootlegging is nowhere near complete yet, but it has the potential to become something quite good. However, it needs some artwork, a better tutorial and an easier interface, not to mention a lot more content in order to keep the players engaged.

Beenox is a video game developer established in 2000 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The studio became a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision on May 25, 2005.[2]

History[edit]

Between 2003 and 2006, the developer was essentially a porting house. They completed approximately 30 projects for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh operating systems, based on popular franchises such as X-Men, Spider-Man and Shrek.

In 2006, they returned to original game development with the console versions of Bee Movie Game,[3] inspired by the feature film from DreamWorks Animation. As part of Activision's E3 2007 media blitz, it was announced that Beenox was the developer behind the Windows version of Activision's Spider-Man game Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, which was released in October 2007.[4] They released the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Windows versions of Monsters vs. Aliens and the console versions of Guitar Hero Smash Hits. Beenox later developed the Spider-Man games Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

After founder Dominique Brown's departure in December 2012,[5] the studio's focus shifted from leading original game development to doing a number of support tasks on Activision's superbrands Skylanders and Call of Duty. In 2015, Beenox worked in conjunction with Mercenary Technology on bringing Call of Duty: Black Ops III to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[6]
